The paid methods are usually less time consuming, since you are paying for a service. Depending on your budget and time provided on the site can be a big a factor if you pay for a service or do it manually.

There are a few ways to get traffic to your site: get ranked high in a search engine, advertising, and networking. The main search engines to get ranked on are Google and Yahoo. Getting a high page rank and place on Google is key to having a successful site. Networking and getting the word out about how your site can help people is also important. If your site helps many people you will get a lot of traffic, and your page rank and position will increase without effort. Advertising is also vital, letting people your site is out there and, if they visually see that they will be more likely to visit your site.

The most of traffic comes from search engines. The main search engines are Google and Yahoo. The smaller and less used search engines are Bing, Msn, and Aol. Getting crawled (looked at by the search engine) is very easy, you can submit your site to the search engine or just wait and it will be crawled after a few days. The point of getting crawled by a search engine is so your website and pages of you site will be put in the engine.

To get traffic you need to be ranked high in a search engine. To get ranked high in the search engines, you need good keywords and links. Having keywords pertaining to your site are key to getting ranked high. For example if you search “Fish tanks” you will get some results and they will have highlighted words in the description with “fish” and “tank.” Links are like a popularity contest, the more links you have the higher the search engine ranks you.

A nice design will also attract visitors to your site. A design fitted for the type of visitors that visit your site is key. Do not put a girly appearance to a wrestling or sports site. A good slogan or motto will catch everyone’s attention and is how McDonalds and Subway have so much business.

Following these tips will almost guarantee success with your site if you implement them correctly. They can be implemented very easily especially if you have surfed the web often. Traffic is key for a site to succeed, but it is worthless if your site is not valuable. Make sure you have a site that people will get something out of and want to come back.
