Easy Way To Build Links To Your Blog
One of the critical elements of search engine optimisation is creating a network of links to your website or blog. Sounds simple in theory, but it is not as easy as it seems to generate high-quality links on a scale large enough to have a positive effect on your search engine rankings.
One simple technique for building back links to your site is to post comments on “dofollow” blogs. This is easy, but is often not done correctly.
So what do I mean by “dofollow”?
To answer that question, you first have to know about “nofollow”. “Nofollow” an attribute of the anchor tag used to specify links in HTML. By placing the “nofollow” attribute on a link, a webmaster can BLOCK any “link juice” passing from their website to your website. In other words, the “nofollow” attribute makes a link useless from an SEO point of view.
As blogs began to grow in popularity, a lot of spammers developed programs to automatically generate comments which would contain their links (largely to porn sites, gambling sites, etc.).
Blogging platforms including WordPress came up with the “nofollow” attribute to combat this, making it the default for comments posted on their blogs; this made comment spam less attractive to spammers.
Of course, there is plenty of comment spam out there; most blogs are in real need of Akismet and other anti-comment spam plugins (I’ve personally deleted about half a million spam comments this way).
Obviously, WordPress’ “nofollow” plugin has not really worked as it was envisioned to. There is now a “dofollow” plugin used my many blogs; this disables the “nofollow” attribute for links in comments, making these links once again valuable for SEO purposes.
Bloggers need to moderate the comments on their blogs anyway, so it’s alright to allow comment links to have this SEO value.
There are now many blogs using the “dofollow” plugin; you’ll just need to:
1.Be on the look out for DoFollow blogs (for example, DoFollowBlogs.com)
2.Add to the discussion by posting regular comments on DoFollow blogs
3.Watch your search engine rankings increase
Posting comments on dofollow blogs is just one of many link building strategies; if you are working in a competitive niche, it probably won’t be enough by itself. However, this method can produce results for most commercially oriented websites and blogs.
The key to this strategy is consistent application. Don’t post one comment and forget about it. Post regularly to key blogs over a period of weeks and months and you’ll start to see the benefits.
Keep in mind that your comments will likely be moderated, so don’t make the mistake a lot of people make and post advertisements for your product or service – most bloggers will simply delete these.
Posting genuinely thoughtful comments will be more likely to net you clickthroughs as well as help your search engine ranking.
You can always have others post blog comments on your behalf – just make sure you assign this task to someone who will post valuable comments which will actually be posted.
