So what is a list? Well it is a collection of peoples details (usually name and email address) who are interested in your product. You know they are interested in your product because they have submitted their details in order for something that relates to your specific product, this can come in the form of a free report or product. When list building make sure you add targeted people to your list, otherwise you will be marketing to people that are not likely to be interested in your product.

Straight away let people who visit your site know exactly what type of product/business you are involved with. This is crucial because otherwise your list will become full of untargeted people, this is a poor form of list building. You want to make it clear to viewers what you are selling/promoting by having keywords in your domain name. For example I am an Internet Marketing Mentor so I have the keywords “Marketing” and “Mentor” in my domain name.

Now you have made it clear what product/business you are involved with go into further detail by creating a squeeze page. Here you explain in more detail exactly what you can offer the viewer and give them something for free or more information in return for their details (first name and email address are the best). I’m involved within the Internet Marketing, industry this is commonly popular with people who leave their corporate job to become an Internet Marketer or people who want to better their lifestyle; recently I have started adding people in real estate jobs as the economic recession has hit that Industry hard and more people are looking for an alternative way to make money.

To find these people I simply type “Real Estate” on Facebook and Twitter and it bringe me a list of people that have that word appear on their profile so they most likely work in Real Estate. Add them and when they accept introduce yourself, briefly let them know who you are and what product/home business you are involved with. Then ask to hear more from that person; list building is all about building relationships so show an interest in them as well.

Now you should get the picture of how List Building works; mainly let people know exactly what niche you’re involved with to filter out the people who will be interested in your product and get rid of the people that will not. Then get their details (through a squeeze page) and market to them whilst building a relationsship. Building relationships with people will result in profitable list building.

Now there are many social networking sites out there but the two I am going to focus on are Twitter and Facebook. This is because they are the two most popular; around 15 million people use Twitter and 65 million people use Facebook.

This means whatever product/home business opportunity you are promoting you are SURE to find a large amount of people that will be interested in it!

Even though there are millions of people on these social networking sites, there are top tips on how to find targeted traffic, this will prevent you from social networking with people that will not be interested in your product. Here’s the top tips on how to do this: 1. Have your account/profile reflect your business/product and let a person know who you are straight away!

2. Write a little bio about yourself and what niche you are involved with, if you are an internet marketer state that and let them know how you can help them.

3. Make your profile/account personal; do this by including picutres of yourself and family and friends. As soon as a viewer visits your profile they will see you are a real person and not some spamming robot!

4. Load your page with links to your site; now don’t go overboard but you can include links in you bio, about me and more info links. This makes your links easily accessible to viewers; also include your link every time you update your social networking status.

5. Connect with new visitors/friends straight away. You do this by drafting up a generic email and sending it to any new social networking friends. Introduce yourself, let them know how you can benefit them and what product/home business you’re involved with. Then ask to hear more about that person which will lead to most people replying as you’ve asked about them not just talked about your product.

6. Frequently update your status with helpful information, for example I’m an internet marketer so I continually give people access to helpful information on internet marketing techniques; it might be a free report by myself or a link to a helpful website. 7. Add targeted people, on both Twitter and Facebook you can search for keywords that appear on other people’s profiles. This is important; limit the number of people you add on Facebook to 20 a day and the number of people you follow in Twitter to 200 a day.
